Course evaluations
Recent course evaluation scores
Below are some metrics on my teaching effectiveness since Fall 2016.
Developed 11 different mathematics courses, spanning the entire undergraduate curriculum.
Taught an average of 13 credits per semester, serving as many as 90 students in a given semester.
By implementing inquiry-based active-learning strategies and mastery-based assessment, I've maintained an average student success rate at least 10 percentage points higher than the national average.
On average, more than 80% of students indicated that I am able to present material in a well-organized and understandable manner.
"[Dr. Clark] was able to take subjects that have baffled several of my friends from other schools and simplify them to the point that I can teach my parents about them."
Quotes from students
Below are a few select quotes from my recent student course evaluations. Some of them have been edited for spelling, grammar, or conciseness. Official course evaluations forms with the original quotes are available for review upon request.
"As a student that usually dreads mathematics courses, this class was quite the contrary. Dr. Clark always walks into the classroom with a smile on his face and instantly puts me in a good mood before class begins. He is extremely easy to approach for questions regarding the material or anything involved in the course.”—MATH115 (Precalculus Mathematics), Spring 2020
“Professor Clark is the apex of arithmetic instruction. He was able to take subjects that have baffled several of my friends from other schools, and simplify them to the point that I can teach my parents about them. His class went at the perfect pace, and was flexible as needed. He would slow down if deemed necessary, but he didn’t hesitate to push us as students.”—MATH135 (Calculus and Analytic Geometry I), Spring 2020
“Never before was I excited to go to math class. Never before was I curious about advanced mathematics outside of class. Now, I can happily say that I have a thorough respect and awe for higher-level math.”—MATH205 (Calculus and Analytic Geometry II), Fall 2020
“The instructor has an extremely unique teaching style which I found worked very well for a course of this difficulty. I enjoyed the basis for grading, as well as the ‘problems and presentations’ idea which allowed all students to voice concerns or get answers to problems. This course was very difficult, perhaps the most difficult I have ever taken, but the instructor was able to make it doable.”—MATH405 (Real Analysis), Fall 2020
“Dr. Clark clearly cares about his students and the quality of his teaching. He is more than willing to help out any student and goes out of his way to give us resources to succeed, which are especially helpful because each of us have different situations we are dealing with."—MATH205 (Calculus and Analytic Geometry II), Spring 2021
"As the first professor I had at Adrian College, you made me feel welcome and set the stage for what a college education would be like. I always appreciate your genuine love for both the subject material and the educational process itself, and both of which are traits I hope to emulate when I work as a teaching assistant in the fall."—Former Student and Advisee, 2021
